Wedding Day Must Have's - For the Bride
Your wedding day is finally here and all your major planning is done. But have you thought about what you might need personally on your wedding day? After shooting numerous weddings, we’ve noticed some helpful things that every bride should have on hand.
A wedding day bridal bag is the best way to stash emergency items and still follow the theme of your wedding day. We asked wedding planners and past bride’s what they wished they would have had on their wedding day, or what their most helpful items were. And together with our experience, we’ve come up with this handy list for you! You can even find some links to some of our favorite vendors.
Bridal Bag - This is the handiest and cutest way to make sure you bring all of these goodies with you and have them easily accessible to whoever is helping you.
Some of our favorite bags: Bride Bikini, Craftdina
Robe - You won’t be wearing your wedding dress all day, so a good robe is not only cute but comfortable while you and your bridesmaids are getting hair and makeup done. And you won’t need to worry about messing up your hair and makeup when you are ready to change into your dress. They also make for super cute photos with your crew.
Some of our favorite robes: Magnolia Blue South, Camellia And Love
Travel Sewing Kit (with a threaded needle) - Not only do you need to remember to alter in a bustle for your wedding dress (or you will be stuck carrying around your train all night), but sometimes bustles break. Along with bustles…straps, buttons, zippers, etc. A sewing kit is a must have for the bridal bag.
Ready Made Kits: All For Love Boutique, Oriole Alterations
Scissors - I can’t tell you the countless times someone has asked for a pair of scissors during bridal prep! Make sure to pack a pair to help open packages and cut off tags and those hanging ribbons on bridesmaids dresses. They even make foldable scissors that can fit into your sewing kit!

Crochet Hook - This one makes buttoning all those buttons or hooks on your dress much easier. As an added bonus, they are super cheap and you can find them at most craft stores.
Safety Pins - Heaven forbid you should pop a strap or zipper, but if you do and you can’t get ahold of some needle and thread, safety pins will save the day.
300 assorted pins in a convenient box: Amazon
Bobby Pins - Its always good to have some extra bobby pins in case you or your bridesmaids have a hair malfunction, or you need some extra ones to hold your veil in place.
Hair Pin Assortment in 4 colors: Amazon
Chalk (or Baby Powder) - Who knew? But chalk is good for hiding stains on a wedding dress. Just make sure the chalk is the same color as your dress. Chalk also works for grease stains. Rub the chalk on, let it absorb the oil and then brush it off.
You can find this here: Amazon, Walmart
Fabric Tape - This is great for wardrobe malfunctions, last minute alterations, or for holding garments in place (like the garter).
You can find this in most craft stores: Michaels, Amazon
First Aid Kit - Make sure to pack this one. Keep antacids, pain reliever, bandaids, Benadryl, GasX, hand sanitizer, and cough drops in it.
Ready Made Kits: Amyzinggifts, Amanda Mae Studio
Travel Toiletries - I don’t wish this on any bride for her wedding day, but make sure to keep some tampons/pads on hand. Other items to consider: travel deodorant, lotion, lip balm, mouthwash/mints, and hairspray.
All in one emergency kits: Amanda Mae Studio, Bridal Bundle Shop
Portable Steamer - No matter how careful you are with your wedding dress, it sometimes gets a few wrinkles. Keep one of these in your bridal bag to give it a quick steam before walking down the aisle.
Some of our favorite steamers: Dupray, Black & Decker
Extra Earring Backs - Let’s face it, those things are tiny. And if you are nervous, shaky hands might drop those things into the abyss never to be found again. You wouldn’t want to have to ditch your wedding day earrings! Bring some extra earring backs with you.
Clear rubber earring backs: Amazon
Perfume/Body Spray - Pick out a wedding day scent! Every time you smell it, you will remember your wedding day. Body spray can be refreshing, especially on those hot Louisiana wedding days.
Bug repellent/Sunblock - If you’re from Louisiana, you’ll know what I mean. Non-scented bug spray or lotion is perfect for those outdoor wedding venues in the south. And don’t forget to protect your skin from those UV rays.
Water and Snacks - Wedding days are busy and long. The last thing you want is to be dehydrated and hangry before you walk down the aisle. You’ll probably have food and water in your bridal suite, but its good to have a spare bottle of water and a few snacks in your bridal bag just in case you run out.
Extra Shoes - While you’ll likely want to show off those heels on your wedding day, by the end of the night your feet will be thanking you if you packed a pair of flip flops or ballet flats. They even have wedding day sneakers now! Whichever you choose, you’ll be glad you can dance the night away and still look cute without your heels.
Super cute shoes: Creature Cool, Kaileep, Kevin Duan Co
